Christmas Events

Experience Christmas as it used to be at the Teddy Bear Museum in Dorchester, as a large family of people size bears celebrate in their festively decorated period home, complete with a visit from Bearfather Christmas. An enchanting and magical experience not to be missed, with sounds, lights and smells! Children can also win a christmas bear worth £5.99 in the Reindeer Hunt. Great fun for all – until Thursday 2nd January (closed 23rd to 26th December).

Get Festive at the Farm in the Longdown Farm Christmas Barn where children and adults alike will delight in the festive atmosphere with its traditional theme and real live animals. Twinkling lights, Christmas trees and festive decorations set the scene where fluffy baby chicks and lots of other favourite farm animals will be waiting to meet the children and share their excitement. Father Christmas will be waiting inside the Farmhouse Grotto to greet the children and their parents. The Christmas Barn is open daily from 30thNovember to 23rd December 2019, opening at 10.30am.

For more fun head to The Dinosaur Museum in Dorchester for the Dinosaur Hunt. Explore this award winning museum and discover the answers to the clues to win a prize. Open daily over Christmas except between (13th and 26th December when closed.

Super Family Attractions

Go to Britain’s original Dinosaur Museum and see T rex, Velociraptor, Triceratops and other dinosaurs. Steam in to Swanage on an historic steam train on the Swanage Railway as it winds through the beautiful Purbeck countryside; Marvel at the Tutankhamun’s tomb treasures and mummy at the stunning Tutankhamun Exhibition. Unleash your inner Tarzan at one of three Go Ape Centres in the area – Moors Valley, Itchen Valley or Haldon. For a full day’s fun visit Adventure Wonderland, Dorset’s number one award winning theme park.

There’s an enchanting experience for the young and the young at heart at the Teddy Bear Museum where there is over 100 years of teddies. The Cheddar Gorge and Caves is a spectacular sight with amazing views of the gorge and stunning stalactites to be seen in the caves. Farmer Palmers is great for young children, they can get up close to the animals.

Stroll through the delightful walled gardens whilst the kids have fun feeding the farm animals at Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park. Take an amazing fun and action packed day out at the world’s largest heritage and cultural event, the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Be part of the mass feeding of up to 600 mute swans at Abbotsbury Swannery. Whilst in Abbotsbury explore the beautiful Subtropical Gardens.
